What can I do for you?

I have been a partner in Misick & Stanbrook since 1998 and head up its commercial property development and tourism group, as well as working extensively in the corporate and commercial arena.  On the resort development side, the Turks and Caicos Islands have become a major regional player in luxury tourism and I have advised developers on several of the territory’s leading upscale developments including Amanyara, Sailrock, and the Ritz-Carlton, as well as acting for several internationally-known hotel flags in their dealings with TCI hospitality developers.  I assist clients with corporate structuring, negotiating development agreements and concessions with the Turks and Caicos Islands Government, acquisition of resort properties, the financing aspects of such projects, their planning aspects, and real estate structuring for mixed-use developments.

Separately, I advise on the commercial legal needs of several of TCI’s leading companies, as well as of major international corporations and banks. I also advise international clients, international law firms, and finance houses on the use of Turks and Caicos Islands corporate entities, trusts, and captive insurance entities, and have acted for many high-net-worth individuals and family offices on their TCI real estate acquisitions and holdings.

Supporting my clients’ objectives

Clients expect much from their legal adviser but some things are paramount, and I would like to think that I provide them – clear, sensible, and jargon-free advice, practical guidance, and readable documentation that achieves their aims and protects their interests.

Qualifications

A graduate of University College Dublin and of the law school of the Law Society of Ireland, I am admitted in Ireland, Australia (Victoria), and in the Turks and Caicos Islands.  I am a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP)

What else should you know?

As well as assisting in recent years on the private sector side on revamps of the Turks and Caicos Islands’ companies and trusts legislation, I wrote the first draft of TCI’s Fractional Ownership Ordinance (a regional first), and contributed articles to international publications on various TCI legal matters. Misick & Stanbrook is a member of a number of international legal networks, and I sit on the Caribbean committee of the World Services Group.  I have spoken at international conferences on all aspects of Turks and Caicos Islands law.

I am a Band 1 ranked lawyer on Chambers and Partners, both in the General Business Law and Offshore: Trusts categories.
